Tutorial: Creating ZIP Files

To create a ZIP file on a Mac, select the file(s) you want and Control-click on them. Then select the Compress... function from the popup menu. Sometimes the created ZIP file will have the default name Archive.zip, so you may need to rename the file after it is created.

You can also apply the Compress command to a folder. The resulting ZIP file usually retains the name of the folder.
